Our recent overnight stay at Packwood quite literally set the benchmark for service delivery in South Africa. The spectacular view was outmatched only by the warm welcome we received by our hosts Vicky and Peter, who continued to impress right throughout our stay. Our rooms were specially prepped and waiting for us on arrival after a long drive, which made settling in easy – like a home away from home (We didn’t even notice that special preparation was made to accommodate all of us). Our hosts were with us and available the entire time, from the wine and cheese tasting right through to dinner and breakfast the next morning. I was surprised to learn that everything that was made for us to eat and drink was made using fresh ingredients from the farm itself…all using sustainable farming methods. The quality and attention to detail that was evidently put into everything was a real treat. We had more than our fill and walked away with an education to go with it. I’ve lived in the garden route my whole life and been on a number of wine tastings and I have never in my life experienced the service that we did – quite simply unparalleled. Oh… and if you get a chance to visit, the Pinot Noir is really something special!!
