An introduction to Wine Blends for Newbies
Welcome to the Wine O’Clock show!
We will be filming from different locations from Packwood over the next few weeks and answering some commonly asked questions about wine and the winemaking process. Today Solly, our wine expert, will explain:
What exactly is a wine blend?
The term “Blend” is one that is applied to wines that are made from more than one cultivar, which is a variety of grapes. Blends have become increasingly popular as they allow winemakers to produce more complex wines with enhanced aromas, flavors, colour and texture.
Where does blending take place?
Blending can take place at any stage in the process, either in the vineyards by mixing the grapes together or by mixing the juice or even wine at any stage in the processing
What are the most common blends?
