Activities at Packwood are plentiful - clay shooting with Peter, riding with Vicky around the farm (exp riders only), fresh water fishing in the dams, a nature lovers paradise and for the bird enthusiast there are 100's of species to keep you entertained, excellent hiking and cycling across the farm or through Knysna's indiginous forest which is on the doorstep. Harkerville has the best hiking and cycling trails that South Africa has on offer, kilometres of forest tracks and beautiful coastal routes. For guests that are less energetic enjoy a gentle walk around the vineyard and farm, treat yourself to a deep tissue massage by our local massuer (prior bookings are essential), relax by the pool and enjoy a perfectly chilled glass of Packwood Sauvignon Blanc. If you are planning a trip at the end of February or March, you may be asked to help with the harvesting of the grapes !!
Harkerville and the Tsitsikamma areas are true reflections of the famous Garden Route, this region consists of rugged coastlines flanked by tall mountains, rivers, estuaries, magnificant indigenous forests, hills, fynbos, abundant wildlife and wonderful scenic drives and hidden treasures.

The Garden Route is a veritable treasure trove of fun things to do. For the adrenalin seeker try shark-cage diving in Mossel Bay or bungy from the highest commercial site in the southern hemisphere at Storms River, canopy slides and black-water tubing in the Tstitsikamma, tandem sky-diving and surfing in Plett, abseiling in Knysna.
Plett and Knysna offer whale & dolphin watching, the best time of year for the whales is from Jul - Sept, both towns have beautiful lagoons with safe swimming, Knysna offers the ideal location for sea kayaking and sailing. Yacht charters are also avail from Knysna to the famous Knysna Heads.
Plett has a number of world famous beaches, and there are numerous hiking and mountain-biking trails throughout the area, Packwood borders the Knysna forest which offers some of the best hiking and cycling routes in the country. A great way to see the area is by air, Plett has daily helicopter flips and light aircraft trips over the whole area and through to George.
Four of Africa's Big Five can be viewed at close range from horseback or safari vehicle at our local game reserve in Plett, Plett is also home to Birds of Eden, Monkey Land and the famous Knysna Elephant Park .
Just a little further a field in Oudtshoorn we have the Cango Caves, ostrich safaris, crocodile and cheetah park, en-route to Oudtshoorn explore the Montague Pass and discover the wines of Herold
